NBC’s Open House called on me to makeover a firehouse. Part of the process was selecting the right paint. We shot a segment in Soho at Janovic paint. I get so excited looking at all the color options! I especially am a fan of Benjamin Moore paint. I like the Aura collection and also the Natura collection. So let me share the key to picking paint for a room. In this situation it was for a firehouse rec room. It needed to be cozy and masculine. When selecting color for a room, stick to 3 colors. This keeps the room refined and looking good.
Since it’s a firehouse, of course I had to pick red! My favorite red is Poppy #1315 by Benjamin Moore. It’s my go-to accent color and worked perfectly in this room. I wanted to keep the walls and ceiling sparkly clear so I selected Superwhite which reminds me of confectioner white. I love it. This opened up the room and made it feel bigger. The 3rd color was a charcoal grey. This was for accents.
TUNE IN! Sunday, May 23rd at 8:30am on NBC Chanel 4 in NYC, the show is called Open House To The Rescue. (It’ll be aired nationally so check with NBC to find out when it airs in your hood). So excited to see the show and share more ideas about how to create a beautiful space!

Great job on the decorating of the Firehouse. Your expertise sure showed through, and the final product looked fantastic. I agree the round tube air ducts would have been a better look, but yes, budgets sometimes get in the way!
Again Jill, great job!
It was a great ep! The rec room looked great: modern and comfy. Hope there are more eps like this.
